There are five BOARD GAMES in this package and they cover the three main subtraction strategies:
    - Count Backs - 2 games (up to 10 and up to 20)
    - Taking 9 or 10
    - Doubles and Near Doubles
    - Random ( a mixture of all strategies)
    + Directions

The theme is Goldilocks and the Three Bears and all you need to start is one or two dice and one counter. Both players use the same counter, but each is trying to get to their own finish square. This is the fun element in this game. Directions are included.

This format is also used for my LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD TAKES AWAY with similar number facts but in a different order. I have a variety of BOARD GAMES so students are motivated to keep playing. Some students need more practice than others, and when they're having fun they are more likely to master these basic skills.

These days I teach intervention and I focus on skill development and explicit teaching of strategies as some kids rely on one strategy (usually counting on fingers), and it doesn't always work. I send games home for Family Fun Time when I can and that way my students get the repetition they need to consolidate and build fluency. Alternatively, they can be added to a Maths Centre or used in Maths Rotations.
