ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Learning-solutions, Education Consultant

I am a semi-retired primary teacher with a degree and experience in Learning Support.  During my 30 odd years teaching I was a classroom teacher, principal, guidance officer and learning support teacher.  I have had straight grades and multi-age classes in towns and communities all over Queensland.  My passion is differentiation and supporting all learners.

This freebie is the checklist of 74 rimes you will find in my WORD WHEELS, FLASH CARDS and TASK CARD products.

I use this checklist with my FLIP BOOK of Rimes for targeted intervention. The Word Wheels help with blending and vocabulary development and I use them after I have identified specific skill deficits but not all the rimes have a matching Word Wheel. The Flash Cards provide explicit teaching material and the Task Cards are an option for consolidation. They would be ideal for small group or individual intervention.

I have developed the game RIME SWITCHEROO for consolidation and it works very effectively if played regularly once the rime has been explicitly taught. I usually target three unknown rimes for each game and I find, if the game is played through the week, the rimes are known when I see the student a week later.
