I developed this FLIP BOOK to use with individual students who need practice with phonemic awareness and blending. You can use it in a variety of ways but my preference is helping students with phonemic awareness by substituting onsets or rimes (using the same onset and flipping rimes or using the same rime and flipping onsets). The inclusion of nonsense words in this exercise ensures students are not tapping into their store of visual words and are really applying their ability to blend phonics.
Print and laminate the sheets then cut them horizontally. Next step is binding the 17 pages. I use a comb binder. Lastly cut the pages vertically, separating the onsets and rimes.
There are 51 of the most common rimes with a variety of C/CC onsets. There is no 'f' onset but I have included the 'uck' rime. You can omit any of the other onsets or rimes that may offend.
