To all the new teachers – Be forewarned

As a new year begins, all bright and shiny withresolutions, the next cohort of new graduate and early career teachers get prepared for the year ahead. Whether Secondary or Primary, there will be some similarities in challenges and obstacles within your first few years as any other teaching looking to gain permanency. It is an exciting time, but one that can lead to many quitting early on in their career. The following are things that Mr Holland’s Opus or Dead Poet’s Society didn’t explain. It’s not quite as bad as The Simpsons or a Black Mirror episode, though some days it can feel that way.

Building a dream

With more than 15 years experience as a High School teacher in Australia, I knew there was a better way for teachers, tutors, students and their parents to make learning and delivering world class education more accessible. Our current reliance on outside agencies and publishers to dictate how we teach needed to change. The Wheel came from a lot of searching, planning, and building a platform that moves education forward, every teacher, every student, every classroom. This is a brief history of how The Wheel began.
